Gynecomastia

Some men are ashamed to take their shirt off in public or even to put on a tight sweater. This can be caused by gynecomastia, which is the development of the mammary gland in man or fat accumulation in the region. The term comes from the Greek and means "female breast". The problem can be solved with a surgical correction.

Recommendation:

A gynecomastia procedure should not be made until the age of 14 years, because the breast can still regress. According to plastic surgeon  David Passy, who serves the cities of Itaperuna, Muriaé and Ipanema, in Rio de Janeiro, the problem tends to affect more obese people, but is not solely restricted to them.

Duration:

The duration of the gynecomastia procedure is only a few hours along with a hospital admission for 24 hours.

Anesthesia:
The anesthesia used for the gynecomastia surgery can be local or epidural anesthesia.

Scar:

The gynecomastia  procedure is done with a small incision around the areola, removing the increased mammary gland. In this technique, liposuction is used to help achieve a better contour of the operated region. According to the plastic surgeon David Passy, who serves the cities of Itaperuna, Muriaé and Ipanema, in Rio de Janeiro, the final result is very good and the scar is imperceptable, because it is a very small cut that is made inside the areola.

Postoperative:

The patient should rest for the first 3 days after the gynecomastia surgery. The patient shoud return to the clinic for the removal of the stitches after about 7 days. The patient will be allowed to drive about two weeks after the surgery. In the first three months, the patient must use an elastic band, to provide firmness to the region. It is also important to make at least 10 sessions of lymphatic drainage to help reduce swelling.
